Hi all,
after several years, I have reinstalled pal talk and find it very much changed since I had it last. A friend of mine on VIPconduit installed it, and i'd hoped we might talk on there, but I'm having some hassles with it, but from what I've heard from a few sighted people in at least 2 rooms I've been in, a few blind people have it and seem to do quite well with it. I added one person to my pal list, but jaws can't find the pal list. as far as it's concerned, it doesn't exist. after being in a room for a while, I lose audiio. I can still hear everyone, but noone can hear me anymore. I start out sounding great, but after a while, I can't be heard. I don't know if it's the advertising frames or not, but my friend has those frames and it doesn't bother him, but jaws tries to focus on some of the ad frames, and blocks text in the text window, so sometimes i have to exit the room and come back in again if i want to read text in the window. I'm using jaws 7.0 and pal talk version 9.1. I've used paltalk briefly with jaws 6, but find it's still the same in both versions. I hate to give it up, because i've met some nice people in 3 rooms, and have added those rooms to my favorites, but I don't understand why I lose audio after a while. Has any jaws user on here ever used paltalk, and if so, how do you get around it? and have you ever had a problem with losing audio? thanks very much,

hmmm interesting, I have never had problums with the audio. that is so weerd. if any thing, the audio is lowder then the damn jaws. but I get around it fine.
father bear, I don't have a problem hearing people, but after a while, people can't hear me anymore, and evven restarting paltalk doesn't work. I thhink if i start my computer again, I can talk again for a little while before people can't hear me again.

hmmm, interesting, Sounds like the same problum that I had with skype. exept that people was able to hear me, but I was not able to hear them. the audio kept on cutting off.
Here's a thought: wonderwoman do you have another program that may be fighting for control of the audio settings with paltalk? I know skype has a feature (that I always turn off) that allows it to change the audio settings to what it thinks they should be.
thats a possibility singer of songs, but I don't see how it could be that, because I don't run skype while I'm on paltalk, but I suppose I could go in skype's options and turn it off while i'm on paltalk, then turn it back on when I'm not on paltalk. I think having that feature checked while I'm inskype makes it work better. I'm afraid if i have it turned off while i'm in skype, skype might work as well for me. I have skype 2.0 by the way, that's probably not it, but I suppose turning it off before opening paltalk couldn't hurt. thanks for the suggestion.

I have a script for PalTalk but i am not sure if it can work with jaws 7, so if you want
this script i can send it to you, why not? try it! It never hurts to give it a look, right?!
ok, will try it, don't know if it will help in keeping me from losing my mic, and already had a trojan from it, but a cousin of mine said not to stop using it because of that, because it could've come from anywhere, so guess I could try the script. and do you think turning off inline frames would help? and turning off or disabling flash? thanks much,

hello, what is paltalk and where can I find it?
it is a PC chat thing, www.paltalk.com it has over 4000 rooms or so.it really kicks ass!
the frame ads are a bit hard on me, but I get around it somewhat by exiting the room to get rid of them when they start, then going back in the room i was in. I have 4 rooms on my favorites list.

Well i don't prefair to disable flash or frame because these things are very important, and
I think if you use jaws 8 you will not find such problems.
When it comes to the script, actually i didn't try it, hehegh because i don't have paltalk.
This script works perfectly with jaws 8.

ok, I entered on the link to get the script, and I was told internet explorer couldn't open the site. the second time i tried, I was told this site might need adobe flash player. I got another trojan again, nuts. there are some people who say I shouldn't be getting those things from paltalk. well, I din't think they're coming from the paltalk program itsself, because i'm not even on the site after i download it, but its those ads that display themselves as web pages. Jaws doesn't even read all of them, but for some reason microsoft office wants to come up sometimes, and i don't even use it, it's still a trial version, and I don't really have the way to access the 25 digit code you have to enter to use the trial version, even if i wanted to. I wish I knew what the heck make office want to come up. I mean it's not even suppose to come up unless you click on something that requires it. I get those error thingies where you can send a an error report to microsoft, but i never do, i just let the thing close. even after avg has finished scanning my computer right after a trojan, i get that error message about something happening and th eprogram needs to close. any ideas?

I just don't understand why so many people use paltalk and they don't get the stupid trojans, yet I do. most of the ones who use it a lot, especially the admins who have their own rooms, just pay yearly for the ads, so they don't get trojans, but a friend of mine doesn't pay to have the ads removed, and he hasn't got a trojan from it yet.
